Spring Engaged Brakes
Function: Holding, Failsafe (Non-Cycling Applications)
Drive Arrangement: Machine Frame or Bracket to Shaft
- Spring pressure compresses drive and friction discs to produce a fixed amount of torque.
- Air pressure is applied to disengage the brake.
Spring Engaged Brakes – NEMA Frame
Function: Holding, Failsafe (Non-Cycling Applications)
Drive Arrangement: Motor to Gear Reducer (Gear Box)
- Spring pressure compresses drive and friction discs to produce a fixed amount of torque.
- Air pressure is applied to disengage the brake.
Air Engaged Brakes
Function: Stopping, Holding (Cycling Applications)
Drive Arrangement: Machine Frame or Bracket to Shaft
- Applying air pressure compresses drive and friction discs to produce torque.
- Torque is proportional to the air pressure applied.
- Separator springs assure full brake release when air pressure is absent.
Mach III Industrial Friction Brake Features
- Multiple disc brake designs for high torque in a compact package.
- Each friction brake is built to order with the precise Imperial or Metric bore and keyway requested.
- Flange mounted models are both drilled and slotted to accommodate various installation arrangements.
- Industrial friction brakes are easy and economical to use with long, low maintenance service life when properly applied and operated.
